New Beginnings
When the Berrow family bought the Nursery school, they had a competition to rename it, it was so fitting at the time when a name came up from one of the 5 year old children, namely Caron Namhing, whom today is a fashion designer and a recently married woman, this name being Rainbow Nursery school.
Rainbow Nursery school has grown and through the years seen many lovely children become wonderful adults whom are now married and have children of their own.
We at Rainbow are so proud to hear how well many of the children have prospered and are today happy young adults.
New Premises
On the 25th of November 2007 Rainbow Nursery school moved premises, we were able to buy a property in Ben Rhydding place and Smith street Bedfordview, to renovate within 3 months and move the entire contents of the school over a weekend.
The previous school was a rented building. It was such a liberating feeling to own and be able to put such positive love and energy into the new school.
Over the years and the amazing changes that have happened to the country, so has Rainbow changed and adapted, we have been so blessed to see so many different cultures of adults and children come through the school.
Change is probably a very scary thing for a lot of people but for us at Rainbow we have only but grown with it and that is why the name Rainbow was so aptly chosen so many years ago, at the time not even realizing how appropriate it would be.
Growing Everyday
Rainbow continues to grow and thrive. We as a family running Rainbow have learnt so much over the years, all being good learning lessons in life.
We have had children come and go and hopefully through it all, nice kind adults have grown and been formed.
As time goes on we have learnt so much from the children, tolerance, patience, understanding, all these positives are how we all grow and hopefully become better people, especially to one another.
To have passion and belief in what we have done and do on a daily basis has helped make us what and who we are today.
Our Story
Rainbow Preschool was first established in 1972, in Bedfordgardens, Bedfordview. The school was built between the Bedfordgardens flats and was originally named Southport nursery school, it was started up by Marion and her mother Mrs Lilly Shaw, the schools name was later changed to Bedfordgardens nursery school. They owned it until Sally, Debbie and Hugh Berrow bought the business in 1993. Sally had been teaching at the school since 1985 and Debbie later joined in 1989.
Hugh Berrow has always been the Father Christmas at the school and till today is fondly know as “Father Christmas” to all, even the adults.
